Sales Engineer – HVAC / Mechanical Systems
Our client is a growing company in the commercial HVAC, mechanical equipment, and building systems industry. They design and support engineered solutions used in commercial, industrial, institutional, and construction-related applications across Canada. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Sales Engineer to join a stable and expanding organization in the Mississauga, Ontario / Greater Toronto Area. The role is ideal for someone with experience in HVAC sales, mechanical systems, technical sales, application engineering, sales engineering, or engineered equipment sales.
Compensation: This role offers a base salary in the range of $80,000–$120,000, plus bonus/commission potential. Total compensation will vary based on experience, technical background, territory, and sales performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, building owners, facility managers, and industrial customers across the GTA and surrounding territory.
- Promote and sell engineered HVAC, mechanical, and building system solutions for commercial, industrial, institutional, and construction-related applications.
- Review customer requirements, drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents to recommend appropriate equipment and technical solutions.
- Work closely with internal engineering, estimating, applications, and operations teams to support project quotations, equipment selections, and customer proposals.
- Provide technical product support to customers throughout the sales cycle, including pre-sale consultation, equipment selection, project clarification, and post-sale follow-up.
- Identify new business opportunities with contractors, engineers, consultants, and end users in the commercial, institutional, and industrial markets.
- Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, quotations, and technical information to customers and project stakeholders.
- Track projects through the design, tender, quotation, order, and delivery stages.
- Support customers with product information, pricing, lead times, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Attend customer meetings, site visits, project reviews, trade shows, and industry events as required.
- Maintain strong knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, HVAC technologies, building systems, and customer needs.
- Ensure a high level of customer service, responsiveness, and technical accuracy throughout the sales process.
Requirements:
- Experience in technical sales, sales engineering, application engineering, HVAC sales, mechanical equipment sales, or engineered product sales.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, mechanical systems, building systems, or related engineered equipment.
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Building Systems, HVAC Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical customers.
- Experience working with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, general contractors, facility teams, industrial customers, or building owners is an asset.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a consultative sales approach.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects and customer accounts at the same time.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel locally within the GTA and surrounding region.
- Experience with CRM systems, quoting tools, project tracking, or technical selection software would be an asset.
